Editing the Shelf Project Wiki is easy to learn. You must first sign in, and if not blocked, you will have editing privileges.

The core program is the same that runs Wikipedia, but a What You See is What You Get ("WYSiWYiG") program has been added on. MediaWiki is very well documented. The MediaWiki FAQ: [1][2] (see especially the "Basic Usage" section: [3])

Some more documentation: [4]

To edit or comment, you must go to the page, hit the edit button, when you are finished hit save page.

To create a new link, for instance, to a new prposal you are adding, hit the globe icon on the toolbox line

(this is the Insert/Edit Link button).
A popup window that says Link should come up.   In the "Link" field, type the name of the Wiki page or full URL (e.g. [1]) that you want it to point to. Capitalization of letters matters! When you're done entering the name, hit OK. Click the "Save page" button to save your changes. Your link should now appear on the page. If there's already an existing Wiki page by that name or if you're pointing to an outside website, the link will appear blue and underlined. If the page didn't exist yet, it will be created and your new link will be red and underlined. Click on that link to move to the new page, and Edit its contents.

The WYSiWYiG on top of   MediaWike sometimes makes funny formatting glitches. They go away with reediting, sometimes multiple reediting.  Or you can ask to see the wikitext by clicking "Wikitext" in the northwest corner of the editing page, and you see if there are eg extra ** added in.

You can add a proposal by going to the New Proposal link off the Table of Contents for the Segment you want to add to to get the template. The New Proposal gives you the template for the Committee Print format required here. Hit "copy" for the template. Create a new page for your proposal. From Table of Contents, Proposals in Progress for your segment, create a new link. Type a title for your proposal, select the title, hit the link icon, which is a globe with two lower moons. When the prompt opens create a title for for the page (your proposal title), hit save, return to the page, hit "edit", paste in the template and add your proposal.
